Shyam:
You probably are aware that Kotishvara Iyer is one of the select group of people who has composed songs in all of the 72 melakarta ragas. These songs have been immortalised by the great vidvan S.Rajam in cassette format and are available from him or at music shops.

S. Rajam, who popularized Kotiswara Iyer Krithis, apart from giving audio recordings of all his compositions (not only the 72 mela compositions, but an additional set of three cassettes conatining the remaining compositions, as well) has written a book giving all Kotiswara iyer songs with notation. The three cassette package containing the miscellaneous collection has also a small booklet giving the lyrics, but this set is not sung by Rajam, but a few disciples. These are valuable collections. SRUTI magazine devoted an entire issue to Kotiswara Iyer, which gives all sorts of information on this prolific composer. Indeed S. Rajam is a walking encyclopadea on Kotsiwara Iyer contributions.

Music critic N.M. Narayanan has reported in an article, ( in "Glimpses of Indian Music" Ed. G.Kuppuswamy and M.Hariharan)
" Among Kotiswara Iyer's unpublished works are a delightful Purnachandrika piece 'Sangita' and an Asaveri song in praise of the Mylapore deity 'Karpagavalli' ".
I have heard the 'Sangita' song (with a delightful chittaswaram) sung by two sons of Sangitha Vidwan KaLakkAdu Ramnarayana Iyer. The latter had learnt many of KI's songs from KI's nephew and was the first to give KI's song ["gAnAmudha pAnam" ( jyOthiswarUpiNi)] in a 78-rpm record. As I remember, the other side of the record contained 'vElanE' in SubhapanthuvarALi. ( It is only later GNB started singing JyOthiswarUpiNi.)
I had mentioned to Sri S. Rajam long ago about these songs; I guess they are still 'unpublished ' and unknown, since they are not part of the songs sung by S.Rajam.

The rendition was by Sowmya with a neat alapanai and swaras at the Pallavi.

PS: I kept thinking it was Naasika Bhooshani until the song and esp. the mudra in the charanam

Dear Friends,
The rendering of 'Gananaya Desika' by S.rajam and MLV vary a lot.I guess S.Rajam must have stuck to the original notation!

Kartik,
1. Under what Music label is the S.Rajam's set on Koteeswara Iyer kritis available?
2. Also it will be helpful if you could mention the names of some of the music stores in Madras/Bangalore.
Thanks
