Please, any one can give me information on cassettes featuring Chembai's concerts with Mysore Chowdiah on violin and Palghat Mani Iyer on Mridangam. I want the trio together. Where are the cassettes available(in India only)?

Sebastian:
Getting a concert for this combination is very difficult. There are some concerts with Chembai-PMI but i am not aware of one with Chowdiah.

I think the ones available in general are Chembai, MSG and PMI.

Thank you Narayanans, Where can I get the cassettes with combination of Chembai, MSG and PMI? I'm presently at Bombay. In Bangalore I got Chembai with L Subrahmaiam and TVG. Besides I have one of Chembai with MSG and Vellore Ramabhadran. Is Chembai, MSG & PMI available in Madras? Any address? It'll be very kind of you to provide the contact address. Thank you

There is a recording by Chembai featuring Ninnu Vina (Purvikalyani-Shyama Shastri) and Nadhopasana (Begada) where as far as I can remember the violinist is Chowdiah ... I'm not sure about the Mridangist though.

U can try in any casette shop in Mylapore, Madras for casttettes u require. I'm an avid fan of Chembai and I had no problem getting the ones I sought. Try Mylapore, near Kapaleeswarar Temple.

Hello, I have a Chembai Cd with Chowdiah and Mani Iyer. Half of the CD was recorded in 1973 with L.Subramaniam,T.V. Gopalakrishnan, and Alangudi on Ghatam. The other half are concerts made in the 1940s. The players are not listed but I'm sure that they are Mani Iyer and Chowdiah. T.V. Gopalakrishnan and L.Subramanium know about the recording, TVG even mentions it in an article about Chembai. It is one of my favorites.
