i think indian classical music sucks and is nothing compared to mozart or beethoven in any way whatsoever so go on and argue which one is better but wastern classical music has already won

To hear to ICM and WCM a person has to have a real MUSIC SENSE. by music sense i do not mean sense of music but ability to understand and appreciate GOOD Music. specially for ICM, you need to know about the basics very well to appreciate it. No FOOL can appreciate ICM and only FOOLS talk Suck..
Obiviously since we re not comparing the two here i do not want to express more... but just want to
say that thee is no music in the WORLD that is as comples and as wonderful as ICM (Specially Carnatic) which as everybody knows is the Origin of most other forms of music.
Staying with the topic
It is very interesting to note that Mozart, Beethoven and other Western Music Composers lived in the Same period (1700s) as St. Thyagaraja, Dikshitar and Syama Sastri...
That was the golden period...

All u morons r missing the basic point ? Similarities of ICM or WCM ?? For example the frequency scales r the same i.e. 1.059 of the previous half-tone.
There r n instances of "jugalbandis" or spontaneous musical dialogues b/w ICM and WCM musicians delivering a unique brand greater than either.
Drop the blinkers. Limits exit only in the mind. So free your mind and enjoy the world.

johnson, i would not like to call you a moron, but here is a suggestion. if you can read, read the book entitled "lies your music teacher told you", written by gerald eskelin (LAJC). you will learn the fundamentals of "half-steps", "full-steps" and all those mistakes (including 1.059!). then you will enjoy music better.

why shold we open a debate like this?? all we must do is think...and think well..ICM is in all ways equal and as beautiful as WCM...yes they may have different elements that make up the music..for example WCM tends to use more harmonic structure and ICM seems to be more dependant on rhythmic value..they are both challanging and intellectually simulating in their own different ways...lets not forget also that indian classical music geniuses such as Ravi Shankar have many deciples in the west...and let us not also forget that western classical geniuses such as philp glass gave Shankar help in theory..so if these two great composers of both cultures could agree and get together ...i dont see why we cant.. i dont see why we are her arguing this now...thank you :)
