I want to learn carnatic flute. I live in
California, and I could not find a person
who can teach me. Is there a book or website
that explanis self learning of flute ?

There are web sites about flutists, but not about teaching flute. I practise flute regularly, but I am not a performing artist. You should have a basic knowledge of vocal music to learn any instrument. Carnatic flute usually contains eight holes for fingering and one hole for blowing. I cannot explain you everything in this discussion because you should learn how to hold the flute properly with thumbs and how to close and open quarter, half or full holes using the tips of the fingers on one hand (usually the left hand) and the middle portion of the fingers of the other hand (usually the right hand). Try to start blowing first. You should perfect that part too.
