There was Sheikh Chinna Moulana, Namagiripettai, Rajaratnam Pillai, etc. Now we have Thiruvizhai Jayashankar, a nadaswaram vidwan from Kerala.

It is rare to have a Nadaswaram Vidwan from Kerala to perform solely for Carnatic music purposes, but Thiruvizhai Jayashankar is changing that. Usually the Nadaswaram in Kerala is strictly for kovils, ulsavams, rituals, etc.
I would appreciate it, if anybody can provide links containing good quality pictures of Nadaswaram Vidwans like Sheikh Chinna Moulana, Rajaratnam Pillai, Thiruvizhai Jayashankar, Namagiripettai Krishnan, etc.

The name Tiruvizha Jayashankar just struck me when I was looking up the forum contents on music.
I recall a performance I attended that's still etched in my mind after a few years, and that was a collaborative concert between actress-cum-dancer Shobhana Chandrakumar's troupe with nadaswaram & tavil interaction, by Tiruvizha J. & Valayapatti P. Subramaniam, on the occasion of the inauguration of Valayapatti's organization's Season ('96) @ AVM mantapam.
Every piece be it the mallari or Mahadeva(Revati) was played with sheer devotion and sounded not like music coming out odf the nadaswaram, but as though someone's ringing voice singing with full fervor.
It was supreme bliss to hear him conclude the program befittingly with shades of a string of ragas traditionally played in the temple. Leaving the hall after the program, I felt like leaving a traditional ceremony more than just a music concert.
