I was lucky enough to find a teacher for Veena recently. Now I have to get hold of a veena. Could anyone recommend a vendor who can relaibly ship the item and perhaps an idea of what this might cost? thanks. |

Madhavi: Sapthaswara/Jaya Bharatham - Madras - make great bamboo veena boxes and pack well... you may also want to additionally stuff some of your clothes in the box to make sure the veena does not move... you could bring it in any airline as a "baggage" item... Singapore Airlines seem to identify these "veena boxes" well...
These days you get very good (naadham is the same - per Geetha Bennett) veena that you could dismantle and bring in smaller custom made boxes...
You may want to ask your teacher about "where to buy a veena" - Some people prefer a tanjore veena while others prefer to buy it at a shop like Sapthaswara Musicals in Madras
