My Dearest Friend,
Why not say, that you like to learn "Tamil Music" in Flute, or is it you really like to learn the Karnataka Music {Kannada Music) in Flute ????

Sri Hari, it seems you are thoroughly mistaken. The name "Carnatic" has no relation to the present day Indian state "Karnataka". In fact, most of the south indian regions (including the coastal areas) used to be collectively called by the name "Carnatic" just when british started taking the rule in India. And the music style prevalent in South India automatically got its name "Carnatic music".
