As most of you would be aware, India is supposed to be taking part in two tournaments at the same time. The latest resolution of this crisis is that two 'equal' strength teams would be sent to both the tournaments. Does India have enough riches to create two meaningful teams?
This is not the first time such a crisis has risen. Last season, I remember two India 'A' teams playing matches on the same day. Does the board need to be more accountable for its actions? (Ofcourse it does.) How could such a system be formulated?

More confusion... For the latest on this, take a look at:

I think this discussion might converge very fast into a Hate Lele discussion! Really the sheer amount of articles that Prem Panicker has written on the incompetence of the BCCI leaders etc...
My only doubt on this topic is Who selects the selectors? Are they not accontable to anyone? Can they not be removed/impeached?

Hi guys,
The pity in India is that the captain has no say in The selection committee meetings, while in Australia only if the captain agrees ,a player can be included in the team,Another point is that many selectors follow the damned regional quota and regional patriotism comes in the way of national patriotism during selection which hinder's the team's progress.

IMO what should have been done is that the BCCI should have told the IOA in the first place that it cannot provide a first grade team for the Commonwealth games as it is clashing with the Sahara Cup. The whole drama of promising them a first grade team and then creating a fuss about the parade and the flag was unnecessary.
It is obvious to anyone who even remotely follows cricket that even though Aus, SA and other countries are sending their proper international team to the games, BCCI would obviously not remove the national team players from the Toronto squad. That is what happened with Pakistan also. For both countries the Sahara Cup is clearly more important! Then why the unnecessary promise?
It is atrocious to say that the cricket team will not parade under the national flag but under the BCCI flag. It is in fact an offence to have evne said such a thing, forget practicing it! What is going on here? Some kind of rebellion to form a separate nation called BCCI? Lele should have been arrested for treason for having said that!
There was a proposal of some sort to have only former players who have played atleast 10 international or 50 Ranji matches as the selectors. I dont know if this was only proposed or it was passed. That would be a much better thing than having anyone who has just watched a match deciding the players' career and the country's fortune! (Of course, once they become selectors the stop watching matches!)
As Hrishikesh says, there should be more say for the captian. In fact, this is already the rule, only noone follows it. Everyone knows what amount of pressure Sachin was under when he was the captain. Even though he might deny it for ages, its common knowledge that he wasnt even allowed to have his own batting order.
Azhar came back, put Sachin in the opening slot and we saw the results. Both Azhar and Sachin have gone to the press saying that they were not consulted before taking decisions.
There is one more issue of tour scheduling. The sheer quantity of cricket the Indian team plays is enormous. And in the finally tally it comes out that India has hardly played any tests! Only ODIs and those on consecutive days and such like! The Pepsi Cup followed by the Coca-cola Cup at Sharjah was, I think, one of the most badly managed and cramped tours ever! And then why complain that the speedsters get burnt out fast?
There is another issue of the grounds and preparation, but already this has become a huge posting. So I will stop for today!
Please respond.

Hi guys,
The Indian team plays so much cricket these days.Last year they played 37 onedayers!!!IMO the selectors should send 2nd string teams to both these events and give a much needed break to the senoirs. They can have training sessions under the world's best physiotherapists, trainers(After all the richest board in the world can spend some money for its senoir cricketers.

You think India is going to win anywhere? :-).

My God! What a selection!! The team to Kaula Lampur has all the batting stars! Jadeja is the captian, Sachin and Dravid, MSK Prasad! But what about the bowlers? Will Mambhrey along with Kumble stop the Aussies? Is Gagan Khoda good enough to open with Tendulkar and face McGrath? And the only one proper match India has is the match with Australia 'cos assuming India goes through to the other rounds all the test-playing nations except Australia have sent 2nd grade teams!
And look at the Sahara Cup, no Sachin, no Jadeja, no Robin!! What good is there in breaking up the winning opening combination of Saurav and Sachin and putting Sidhu in making the opening pair at Toronto one of the laziest running bwn the wickets pair? And without Jadaja and Robin to support the middle order will India be able to recover from any top-order mistakes as it has been doing in the recent past? Just because Saurav had a brilliant time at Toronto last year, does that mean that he can be trusted to replace Kumble?
Anyway the IOA has had its say and its publicity and also the last laugh! The BCCI because of its unnecessary promise has now managed to spoil the Sahara Cup for us and India is going to lose to Australia in the Commonwealth games as well!!

Hi guys,
IMO India will lose Sahara cup 4-1 that too if lucky(else 5-0).The team composition is hopeless.Commonwealth il Indiakku Irumbu medal than kadaikkum.I agree with Bull when he says that it is utterly barbaric to break Sachin and Sourav's opening combination. They backed each other up so well. Also I would have sent Sachin to Toronto.(But I'm not the selector). What is the use of the number 1 player playing Unofficial matches. The board has yielded to the clout of the IOA.

when other countries send b grade teams, we
send sachin!!! also, how was rohan gavaskar
taken?? is he as good as some of the tamilnadu
youngsters like sridharan sharath and sadagopan
ramesh?? what is going on behind the scene?? in
an interview with Lele, a hindu reporter asked him
if the players from tamilnadu should continue
hoping or should quit the game for good. he did not
get a proper answer. also, the funniest point is
that no player gets paid for the commonwealth
games. what is the necessity for commonwealth
first of all , to remind everyone that india was
a british colony??? i just hope that sachin does
not lose his concentration and form. another
queer point is that when the teams were selected,
though gaekwad was present, srikkanth was not
called, even when he was in the city!!

another lousy decision by BCCI....
Tendulkar , Jadeja and Robin will play the last 2 matches in toronto if they cud not make it to the quarterfinals of commonwealth games. By that time india would have lost the series 3-0 and if these 3 come ,it naturally means they cud not even make it to semis in CW.
This decision of BCCI has further reinforced my conviction that the only criterion for being the selector/ decision maker in BCCI is that u should be an IDIOT of the FIRST order.
Another idiot in deccan herald had written in the sports column that Karnataka players are not given enough chance. It seems , for that fool , sujith Somasunder is a deserving batsman and was not given a chance (mind u, there r 3 poor souls in TN namely sharath, roby (or is it rubin) paul and S ramesh)

Hi Guys,
Basically the board wanted to win the gold medal in first ever cricket in C.W. games, so they have packed it with a strongest batting lineup.
Sending two teams makes me feel like splitting the Indian team in two. Hope this is the first and last time. Surprisingly we accept 2 two teams for Test cricket and One day cricket.
Shanker:I agree with you , board does not care about TNCA. I feel L.siva is much better than Anil Kumble - (who is rather a fast bowler).
He is a total waste in the team.
Sharath must get a chance, K.Srikkanth has to recommended. I dont know what and where and how much Rohan.G scored!, or S.M.G. should have transfered some runs to his son.
Just a Day to go for Ind Pak - Let us see!
Dravid getting another chance! - too much.

I dont have any problems with Dravid getting another chance or Sujit Somasunder getting tried out, but its true that Sharat, Ruben Paul, etc., have been waiting in the wings for quite sometime now. Also after the under-19 WC Srikkanth recomended a few people who were tried out and they are doing well, there is Agarkar and Harbhajan amongst them, but Srikkanth also recomended Murali Karthik who is not to be seen around at all!
Rohan G scored a century or two in the recent tour of Netherlands, but c'mon that was Netherlands !
Lets see what he does in the commonwealth.
Luckily there was rain and the points split in the first match against Antigua, otherwise with 2 wickets down for 27 who knows if India could have gone on to score the 160 required in 40 overs!!
And the Sahara Cup starts tomorrow! CricInfo survey on the result of the Sahara Cup shows that most people think India will win 3-2!! Lets see!!

Ha! So the batting was badly exposed yesterday due to the absence of Saurav! The bowling at Toronto also was exposed yesterday when Prasad failed to support Srinath's good bowling. Agarkar has also proved that he is not a wizard afterall!! Imagine what difference it would have made if the side had to score 246 in 50 overs with a line-up that read :
Sachin instead of Sidhu
Saurav Mongia
Azhar Azhar
Dravid Dravid
Jadeja Paranjpe
Robin Kanitkar
Mongia Agarkar
Agarkar Raul
Kumble Joshi
Srinath Srinath
Prasad Prasad
Lets see what the all-batting side does tomorrow against a confident Australia. Steve Waugh has said that they will surely beat India.

As i had told earlier, India has lost both the CW and sahara. Idhai vida kEvalam namakku vEndave vEndAm. POyum poyum , pakistAnidama naam 134 runs vithyAsathula thorkanum, inimEl avnga thalai keezhAga aaduvaanga!!
Simpson after the second match told that he had given some tips to the indians about running betn the wicket and the importance of singles and some tips on fielding and it seems he was disappointed to see that none of his advises/plans were eecuted properly by the indians.
The selectors shud first stop this quota business. The only successful player who came in the quota system was ganguly.what happened to this sujith somasundar, vikram rathore and the likes ??
The only good decision BCCI has ever taken is to remove Dravid from the oneday team.NO, i'm not saying he's not talented. Previously they wasted a good player in Sanjay manjrekar, whose natural game was to anchor and play some stylish cricket which suited best for test matches. They threatened him to play faster than his natural pace lest he shud be removed from the team.
They shud have removed him from the one day team and allowed him to play his natural game in tests.
