I have lived in london for many years, but i do not know the best places to find good Tamil food. I was born in Durban .S.A. and the flavours over here are not the same. Could someone out there help me?

Siddha Raja mentioned a south indian restaurant in kensington. i live right next to the baden powel house (the boys' scout house). i havent come across any such restaurant there. do advise the correct location. i will be truly intrigued if there is a restaurant in my backyard and i have been going all over town for a dosa or whatever else.

Recommend any South Indian Veg Rest in (Victoria/Westminster or nearby area) London, something like Sri Annapoorna of CBE or like Saravana bhavan at Chennai or any Kerala brahmin restaurant for their typical sambar.

Chennai Dosa at Eastham is my pick. Palm Palace in southall is very famous for Pittu ( Puttu). If you are looking for vegetarian stuff then Indian Deli at hounslow west offers a decent one at £4. Not bad considering the variety. I heard that Saravana Bhavan is shortly opening 2 branches. One at Wembley and other at Eastham. So watch out Pals!!

I went to Shri Rathiga(when I was new in Ilford),the entire place was empty. The service was really poor...the food was disgusting...and way too expensive....it cost £22 for 2 dosas,1 idli and 2 drinks...worst part was the we coudnt really eat a bite....
In contrast Chennai dosa was really kool...a dosa cost £1.65....2 ppl can eat their fill for under £6.....
If you dont believe me..why dont you visit shri Rathiga and try out yourself...

CHENNAI DOSAS FOOD IS DISGUSTING!IT IS NOT FRESHLY MADE FOOD AS THEY USE MOST OF THE DAY BEFORES REMAINDER AS THE SPECIALS FOR THE NEXT DAY!
THERFORE I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT AS THEY DO NOT PREPARE THE FOOD PROPERLY!
THE FIRST DAY AND THE LAST DAY THAT I WENT TO THIS RESTAURANT I FOUND THE FOOD RAW AND UNDERCOOKED, THAT NIGHT CHENNAI DOSA'S FOOD WAS LEAVING MY BODY THE BACK WAY!INTO THE TOILET!!
CHENNAI DOSA IS A RESTAURANT THAT SERVES RUBBISH AS FOOD!

I regular Sri Rathiga restaurant consumer who buys regular take-aways and am highly impressed with the product yet the quality of service. i have always doubted that takeway goods will never be as good as eating in, however i was highly impressed. i wish many more happy takeaways from what i think.....the best south indian restaurant in the uk.

i totally disagree with people complaining of Sri Rathiga. First of it is a proper restaurant with good service and all the food is prepared fresh. Unlike other restaurants which already pre cook food god knows when, the food in Sri Rathiga is cooked upon receiving the order and has an authentic taste. The food in Chennai Dosa is rubbish and cannot be compared with Sri Rathiga which is on another different level altogether
