Hey
For those familiar with south east asian cooking, we tend to use candlenuts which I read somewhere are also called macadamia nuts? I do not know if that is true or not, however I need to get my hands on fresh candle nuts anyone know where to find them in Toronto ?
Thanks

Hello. Just in case you haven't had a reply yet.... candlenuts are very similar to macadamia nuts and grow wild on large trees in rainforests in this part of the world (southeast Pacific), but are poisonous if not roasted (although macadamias are safe to eat raw). I have a laksa recipe that asks for candlenuts and it says that if you don't have candlenuts, use macadamias or blanched almonds.
Cheers from Glenn,
Sydney Australia.
