Sad,
Green label isn't available in the states (if it exists at all since there seems to be some question of that). Blue Label is going for about $170 a bottle in Pennsylvania. I understand that it can be purchased for about $100 in the islands. Luckily I have a friend going next week who is getting my first bottle of Blue Label for me!

My gf father is whisk/ey/y drinker. I have no idea what to get him. Although I know he owns JW Blue Label...which he hasn't opened. My price range is $50 to $100. I would like to get him a bottle since...I'm about to ask him for his blessing to marry his daughter ;) ...any recommendations? I'm in San Diego, CA.

Today is my 35th wedding anniversary and we are driving 160 miles to Cardiff to attend a reception to launch WELSH Whysky which is distilled in Penderyn, which is some 30 miles north of Cardiff. The Celts in Scotland and Ireland have whysky - so why not the Welsh! My wife has volunteered to drive home.

Bushmills is Ireland's Catholic whiskey, whereas Jameson is Irish Protestant whiskey. Talk about spirits! Jameson is sooooo smooth and goes for about $15 at your local liquor store. My friend and I put away a half a bottle(with lots of food of course)and felt no pain this morning. It gets a **** rating from me.
Wow, haven't been here for awhile. Good to see this place flourish. I just received a mail from an Irish trueblood who corrected me on the spiritual lineage of Irish whiskey:
"It's the reverse, Jameson is Irish Catholic, and by far better than Bushmills (Protestant)"
Thanks for the correction.
One of the best single malts I've tried recently is "Ab'lour" or some such name. Try the 15 year old even, it's amazingly smooth.

sorry for melting my post above, I must've been drinking non-alcoholic beverages, they do this to me. Here's the right version of my post:

did you people get the "Protestant Whiskey" line from HBOs The Wire? Either way, its a good line. And since I was raised Catholic, but don't care to follow Romes orders, I'm now a Protestant. [the Pope isn't St. Peter incarnate]
So go ahead, order a nice Protestant Whiskey like Bushmills, or even an Agave Tequila! Peace Out
