I heard some songs from Grammy Nominees 1998 CD and I loved some of them which I would like to list below.
1. Silver Springs - Fleetwood Mac
2. Sunny came Home(Grammy winner) - Shawn Colvin
3. Where Have All the Cowboys Gone - Paula Cole
4. I Believe I can Fly(Grammy winner) - R. Kelly
5. On & On(Grammy winner) - Erykah Badu
6. Anybody seen my baby? - The Rolling Stones
7. Don't Speak - No Doubt(This song had strains of guitar interludes from IR's "ilaya nila pozhigiradhu" - Any comments on this?)
Please feel free to write down the list of other songs that should have been in the top ranks but was left out.
Recently I heard the "Frozen" song by Madonna and I could observe that the BGM resembled orchestration used in Indian songs. Any comments on this?

The entire collection you have made is real good to listen. My pick being Fleetwood Mac followed by Paula Cole and Colvin...
As regards Frozen, you must be knowing that the songs were assisted by an Indian musician. Slokas borrowed from Shri Sankara... Further, I am reminded of 70s/80s hindi tunes...

haris,
In fact Hotel california has an electric guitar version also. But the acoustic version is FAR better.

of all the songs mentioned abobe, i feel that 'i believe i could fly' had the best emotional content in it. Kelly, the singer was really expressive and the song was used effectively for Michael jordan's promos.
somehow i feel that akin to TFM, the pop music in U.S. has lost its charm of the 80's. i still continue to amze myself with songs from the 80's.
here is alink to a site in internet where u can listen to 100 different categories of music 24 hrs a day as a live stream. its not a radio and no commercials or announcements.
the site is
http://www.spinner.com
u have to register u'rself for using certain features of the jukebox window, but it is not compulsory. u have a wide range. every time a song is played info would also be provide about the artist. if u like that song very much, u can even buy that CD online!!!
