It is high time that we all adopt a standard in posting tamil text. While some are readable on unix, some are readable only on windows and some more require setting the correct font type in View-Character Set-User defined and the others are completely gibberish (unless, of course, one saves as html file and reads using a local Tamil editor!). This is irritating, to say the least. Of course, my or others' reading/commenting on the postings is not going to improve/diminish the quality or worthiness of the discussions/discussants.
Looks like, BB and other hub-admins are not interested in writing a small code that would automatically attach the soup of font-tags, either.
Sigh!!!!
As kaNNatAcan said, "koLvOr koLka, kuraippOr kuraikka".

RR,
Thanks for updating the howto.html document. It is easy now to advise new users how to post in Tamil fonts correctly.

I am a unix user. I am able to read only Anjal fonts. I am not sure whether Anjal has a text editor for unix too. So, I am posting all my responses only in English script. Are there anyother 'unix-friendly' fonts?
AruL, this is really a useful topic. 'koLvor kondu kuraippOr kuraippadhodallaamal' - seivor (Edhaavadhu konjamaavadhu!)seivaargaLaaga! This is my fond wish!

Nakkeeran,
There are TSCII fonts available for Unix. There is also an editor called Akaram written in Tcl/Tk. Do check out the TSCII pages at: http://www.tamil.net/tscii/tools.html
See if these tools are useful to you.

RR, see the above test. when rendered in the same text, inaimathaitsc makes the gap disappear between the first and second cIr of the last line
(kANaay nukarvOr), whereas aparanartsc makes it neat. This is one of the reason that I asked you to make iniamathi as a later choice than aparanartsc (you may also check the font quality). This is esp. important when you are posting poetry
